Foot & Ankle Surgery in Atlanta, GA

When a foot or ankle problem needs surgery, the surgeon matters as much as the procedure. Dr. Jason E. Morris is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and fellowship trained in reconstructive and cosmetic surgery of the foot. His practice offers something unusual: selected procedures performed in the office under local anesthesia — and complex reconstruction at the Atlanta Center for Foot and Ankle Surgery in Sandy Springs.

What is foot and ankle surgery?

Foot and ankle surgery covers a wide range of procedures: corrective surgery for bunions, hammertoes, and other deformities; repair of fractures and tendon injuries; removal of painful lesions and bone prominences; wound and infection care; and cosmetic and reconstructive procedures of the foot, ankle, and lower leg. The right operation — and the right setting — is chosen to match the problem, not the other way around.

Common symptoms

  • Surgery is considered when problems such as these do not respond to proper conservative care:
  • Persistent pain from a deformity (bunion, hammertoe, bone spur)
  • A fracture that will not heal correctly on its own
  • Tendon tears or chronic tendon dysfunction
  • Chronic wounds or recurring infections
  • Painful prominences, lesions, or growths needing excision
  • Loss of function that limits walking or work

Common causes & risk factors

  • Surgical problems arise from inherited deformities, injury, overuse, arthritis, diabetes-related complications, and untreated conditions that progress over time.

When should you see a foot doctor?

  • Conservative treatment has been tried and has not resolved the problem
  • Pain or deformity is limiting your daily life or work
  • A fracture or tendon injury requires alignment to heal properly
  • An infection or wound needs surgical care
  • You want an honest second opinion about a recommended surgery

How we evaluate it

Surgical evaluation includes a focused examination, weight-bearing X-rays or advanced imaging when indicated, a review of your full health history and medications, and a clear conversation about options — including what happens if you do nothing. You get the recommendation and the reasoning, in plain language.

Treatment options at United Foot & Leg

In-office surgical procedures

Many of our procedures — ingrown toenail surgery, corn and toe-plasty correction, selected bunion work, toe shortening, lesion removal, and more — are performed in the office under local anesthesia. This setting avoids hospital overhead and often means a faster return to walking.

Reconstructive surgery

Complex deformity correction and reconstruction is performed by Dr. Morris at the Atlanta Center for Foot and Ankle Surgery in Sandy Springs, GA.

Cosmetic foot surgery

As a fellowship-trained cosmetic foot surgeon, Dr. Morris addresses appearance-focused concerns — toe contour, residual prominence, scarring — for appropriate candidates.

Post-operative care

Surgery is only half the outcome — structured follow-up visits, wound care, and a stepwise return-to-activity plan complete it.

What to expect

You will know before you commit: what the procedure is, where it happens, what anesthesia is used, how long recovery realistically takes, and what it costs. In-office procedures are priced transparently; there are no surprise facility bills.

Recovery & follow-up

In-office procedures generally allow walking the same day with a protective shoe; more extensive operations have protected recovery periods. Your written recovery plan specifies weight-bearing, dressings, follow-up dates, and when normal activity resumes. Individual recovery varies.
